In collaboration with The University of Manchester, Manchester Museum has partnered with Multilingual Manchester to promote inclusion and accessibility – and mobilise pride in the city’s linguistic diversity. This online project invites people to join in by submitting translations in any language or dialect as well as providing commentary on others. Submissions can be a close translation or a loose interpretation or comment on a text.
Cedar Mount has been getting involved – students from all year groups have contributed to the platform with texts, translations and illustrations. Students’ translations have already been used to help learners access the museum platform and to encourage collaborative work with other families.
Our students will benefit greatly from this experience but also, in return, their translations and interpretations at Manchester Museum will help others to access information in different languages and share culture-related views and ideas. This will be helping to make the museum a more inclusive place for other communities.
Well done everyone.
